The House of Flowers is one of Netflix’s best Spanish productions originating from Mexico. Season 2 of House of Flowers – or La Casa de Las Flores in Spanish – premiered on Netflix. The telenovela-inspired series has been delighting viewers since 2018 with the antics of the De la Mora family, owners of a flower shop in Mexico City. And the attention was deserved. It was a well-made, funny, progressive show that struck a fine balance between soapy melodrama, slapstick hilarity and complicated familial dynamics. Season 2 followers will expect as they dealt with the aftermath of their matriarch's disappearance and tried to win their flower shop back. The second season brought a death, a new baby, and a surprise new character in Marilu, played by Narcos's Teresa Ruiz. We rejoin the De la Mora family – Elena (Aislinn Derbez), Paulina (Cecilia Suárez), Julián (Dario Yazbek Bernal) – still reeling from the dramatics of the first season; love triangles, betrayals, and the loss of the beloved family flower shop. They’re in different places now but still slip easily backed into their familiar personalities and dynamics. There are notable omissions in the main cast – no spoilers here, folks – but the same style and tone are quickly and effectively re-established, with the new objective of buying back the shop and enacting revenge on Diego (Juan Pablo Medina). By the end of the first episode – of nine, all running a breezy half-hour – you’ll feel right back in Mexico.

Worth a watch, stream!
