How do I answer the standard interview question, “What do you consider your biggest weaknesses to be?” I feel like none of my interviews are successful because I always stumble on this question.

Interview fright is a real thing. Most of the times we stumble during the interview questions because we are anxious and think that taking some time to formulate an answer might put the interviewer to soon decide that we aren’t a good candidate for the position. A good way of tackling interview fright or being better prepared for an interview is by writing answers for a few expected questions and rehearse in front of the mirror.

I haven’t been working for a year. Is there anything special I should say in my cover letter or resume explaining why I have been out of work for a year?

It’s very important to specify why you chose to take a gap year or a sabbatical from work. Write about it in your cover letter and explain your decision. Cover letter is a way of getting through to your employers so a detailed cover letter is always a good way to write about yourself.

How do I decide whether I want to turn an interest into a career?

If you are struggling to decide if your interest can be turned into a career, try volunteering or doing an internship in that particular field. If you enjoy it then it, definitely it can be turned into a career option.

What subject should I take after the 10th? I am interested in science but I want to be an advocate.

Science subjects give you the flexibility to change or choose a career later on in life. If you take sciences in 10th grade and change your mind and switch to some other career option you can easily do that.

What should be the best job search strategy for a fresh graduate?

The best way to search for a job is by updating your LinkedIn profile and go to networking events. That will give you the ability to meet people and find out about organisations.

How should I get letters of recommendation when I apply for a new job if I don’t have prior work experience?

Recommendation letters can be from any internships that you have done or any voluntary work that you’ve done.

I am an intermediate student but I have studied in an international based institution. Am I eligible for SATs? If yes, what difficulties will I face?

Everyone who wants to apply to the US needs SAT regardless of what kind of school they have studied/ studying from. SAT exam consists of two components: English and Math. In order to prepare for SAT there are several books available. However some universities in the US might require SAT 2 as well. This entirely depends on what major are you applying for.
