The team behind the Bloodhound SSC hopes to make history, as they launch the fastest ever landspeed car, making it the first land vehicle to move faster than 1,000mph, for it will be covering one mile in just 3.6 seconds.

With both, a jet engine and rocket powering it along, the 13.4-metre-long car will generate more than 135,000 horsepower.

The Bloddhound SSC is six times more powerful than all the Formula 1 cars, which typically have a horse power of about 1,000 when put together on a typical F1 race day.

Richard Noble, project director of Bloddhound SSC said that the 10-year project isn’t just about breaking the record.

“This is about inspiring young people. Last year alone we directly engaged with over 100,000 students in the UK and we have already seen more students take up engineering as result of Project Bloodhound,” he shared while explaining how the creation of this car will help the younger generation choose engineering for higher studies.

He also said that with the car running, they will showcase science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the most exciting way possible.
