Milestone Achieved

Ali Zafar’s regional song featuring Gul Panra and Fortitude Pukhtoon Core, Larsha Pekhawar that released in September 2021, has hit 52 million views on YouTube in three months, making it the most watched Pakistani song of the year. The song, which was an immediate hit when it released, is a cover of a Pashto folk song and has been redone with contemporary notes and a fun, uplifting video. News of the song’s success was shared by Lightingale Records, Ali’s studio, in a celebratory Instagram post. The song came after the success of Allay, Ali Zafar’s tribute to the province of Sindh, which he performed with Urooj Fatima and rapper Abid Brohi in 2020. In a note on the video, the song is: “Dedicated to my Pashtun brothers and sisters. A tribute to their vibrant culture, values and most of all bravery.” Ali has been diversifying quite a bit and has been quite busy. He has also sung the title tracks for drama serials Mushk and Pehli Si Mohabbat. Let’s see what the artist has in store for his fans in 2022.
